DANCE BANDS |
||
|
|
Some
focus on a few musical styles while others, especially wedding bands, cover
a wide range of styles, 1940's-Today. A few bands perform original material
while most do 'cover' material by others. The Band you ultimately choose
for your event should be the one whose singers and music interpretation
across all of the styles of repertoire feel the most fun and energetic for
dancing.
Dance Bands typically feature both male and female singers performing the lyrics so intrinsic to most all dance music. Dance Bands can break down into a smaller group playing music as a background sound during dinner conversation saving the louder, more energetic danceable tunes for later. Dance Bands come in different sizes: 4-PIECE BANDS can sound surprisingly full. These typically utilize keyboard, bass, drums, & guitar. Horn parts are synthesized. Most instrumentalists also sing. These smaller bands tend to be all male. They can often have choreographed dancers for more visual show. Hear samples on page right. |
